HV Maintenance Services
The goal of maintenance is to prevent unplanned outages, increase equipment lifespan, and ensure safety. Maintenance is often carried out on a planned, cyclical basis (e.g., annually or every four years).
Preventative Maintenance (PM)
Scheduled inspections, cleaning, lubrication, and adjustments of critical components. This often follows manufacturer recommendations (e.g., BS 6626: 2010 standards).
Condition-Based Monitoring
Using diagnostic tools to monitor the health of the equipment while it is running.
Transformer Oil Analysis: Sampling and testing oil for properties like dissolved gases (DGA), acidity, water content, and dielectric strength to detect internal faults early.
Thermographic Surveys: Using infrared cameras to detect abnormal heat spots in busbars, joints, and connections, indicating high-resistance joints before they fail.
Partial Discharge (PD) Testing: Detecting tiny electrical discharges that indicate insulation degradation in cables and switchgear.
Routine Checks
Visual inspections of switchgear, cables, busbars, and protection devices (like Buchholz relays and temperature indicators)
Safety & Compliance Audits
Ensuring the substation or equipment adheres to current electrical safety regulations and operational site rules.
Senior Authorised Person (SAP) Duties
Providing qualified personnel to carry out safe switching and isolation procedures on the HV network.
